Matt Adams Named New GM in Jacksonville by Mac Papers and Packaging

Next-generation leadership in position to grow & diversify the company’s flagship branch

Jacksonville, Fla. (October 5, 2016) – Mac Papers, one of the largest merchant distributors in the Southeast U.S., today announced Matt Adams as the new general manager (GM) for the company’s Jacksonville branch, effective January 1. In his new role, Adams will oversee all branch operations, including sales, customer service, warehousing, trucking, supply chain management and delivery logistics in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Adams succeeds Randy Royall, who will retire at the end of the year after more than 44 years with Mac Papers.

Following Mac Papers’ decade-long initiative to diversify the company’s core business offering, Adams will be responsible for growing the branch’s business across its four lines of business: paper and print, packaging, facility supplies and office products. He will oversee the branch’s sales operations, including the hiring, training, performance management and continued development of the branch’s 13-person sales force.

Additionally, Adams will assume responsibility for logistics, distribution and supply chain management, ensuring the branch increases inventory efficiencies, operates safe warehousing, executes strategic procurement programs and streamlines delivery logistics for customers.

“Matt stands out because he comes to work every day thinking about how we can be better and stronger as a company,” said Mac Papers’ Craig Boortz, regional manager. “Because he has developed strong relationships with our suppliers and delivered valuable service and solutions to our customers, he has earned a company-wide reputation as a team-oriented, highly capable leader. As a Jacksonville native, Matt also knows the local market intimately, which will benefit both our customers and employees.”

Adams joined Mac Papers in 2007 as a trainee in the Jacksonville branch, learning the company’s warehouse operations. He then accepted a position as an account manager, in Miami, and after a year was given the expanded role of account manager and wide-format specialist. In 2010, he relocated to Raleigh as an account manager, with responsibilities for selling the company’s full range of products and services. In Feb. 2016, Adams moved to Mac Papers’ Headquarters in Jacksonville to serve as a digital paper and media specialist.

Adams is a 2007 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, with a BA in economics and commerce.
