JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (January 23, 2017) – Mac Papers, one of the largest merchant distributors in the Southeast U.S., today announced that Chip Abernethy has joined the company’s Packaging business as director of film sales.

Abernethy will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the Packaging group’s sales, marketing and training strategy and programs for film products. He is based out of the company’s Charlotte, N.C., branch.

“Chip brings deep film industry expertise to our team,” said Chris McCabe, Director of Packaging. “His hands-on experience with a wide range of materials and work with major film suppliers further enhances our ability to deliver innovative and comprehensive packaging solutions and services to our customers.”

Abernethy has worked with Mac Papers as a vendor since 2011, and most recently served as a regional sales manager at Syfan USA. He has gained 37 years of film industry experience while at AEP, Berry Plastics, Winpak, Epsilon Films and Bollore, and has worked with polyethylene bags, shrink bundling films, food and medical barrier films, and polyolefin and PVC shrink films.

Abernethy holds a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University.
